It's been a busy month at IPSeach.io and we are super happy about the progress. The last half of the 2014 was a little slow as I worked through my last semester of college (university for those of you in Europe). Now that I have graduated you can expect more frequent updates and for articles to come back. I have already began work on the next set off updates and hope to share those details in late January.

December 2024 updates:
  • Changed IP data source: After experiencing issues with our provider at the time we decided to switch to using MaxMind as our source of IP geolocation data. We researched about dozen providers and tried two of them with MaxMind proving to be the best reliable and accurate.

  • New data points: Added ASN, ASN organization, time zone and latitude and longitude accuracy to data displayed to visitors. This is a direct benefit in switching data providers and will not be the last fields we provide.

  • Fixed missing data: Previously connection type, ISP, and organization data points had stopped working. As part of switching data providers, these data points now work.

  • Copy IP clipboard: We added a clipboard icon beside the IP address that when clicked will copy the IP address. We know this is a small update but we find the functionality very useful.

  • Added/Updated forums: We added new forums for Privacy and Suggestions. We changed the name of the Suggestions and Feedback forum to Bug Reports. We changed the general discussion forum to Off Topic and added icons to all forums. Last, we moved threads to the appropriate forums.
